Q. When I attempt to load an additional software package after installing the camera driver and Snap N Save, the following error message occurs:

      Error number: 0x80070725
Description: Incompatible version of the RPC stub

A. To resolve the Windows 98SE RPC stub error, click here.
Q. I plug my camera into a USB port to download my images, but it (the camera) powers off after approximately 20-30 seconds. Why?
A. Two key things could cause this to happen.
  1. The camera driver has not been installed or is not operating correctly (solution 1).
  2. The camera is plugged into an unsuitable USB port (solution 2).
Windows 98 users! Before attempting either solution, please ensure you have installed the Camera Driver from the supplied CD ROM

Solution 1:
  1. Follow the path to display your device manager
  2. Click Start - > Settings ->Control Panel - >

Windows XP users! If you see Pick a Category at the top of the screen, click Switch to classic view

  3. Now turn on the camera and plug it into your USB port
  4. The cameras screen should display Mass Storage
Windows XP users! Your device manager will automatically update. Click the + by Disk drives and you should see the cameras Zoran Coach USB device driver. If there is a yellow exclamation mark by an unknown USB device then the camera driver has not been correctly installed. Right Click the unknown USB device, select Update driver and follow the on-screen instructions.

Windows 98SE > ME > 2000 users! If the camera driver has correctly installed you should be able to click on the + by Disk drives and see the cameras Zoran Coach USB device driver. If there is a yellow exclamation mark by an unknown USB device, you will need to manually update the driver. Click Refresh and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you do not see an entry with a yellow exclamation mark by it, the camera should be installed correctly. Try Solution 2
Solution 2:
You will need to able to look at the back of your computer, where your USB ports are positioned.

It is possible that your PC is not supplying the power that the camera needs to the USB port you are using. Technically a computer should supply all of its USB ports with 500mA of power, in practice not all computers do. For this reason we suggest you try the following:
  • Always plug the camera into a USB port located on the back of the PC - DO NOT use one situated at the front. It is common for front USB ports to be under-powered.
  • Always plug the camera into the Primary USB 1.1 port. To identify this port please see below How to Identify the Primary USB 1.1 port
  • If this still doesn't resolve the problem, then the only solution is to try a Self-Powered USB Hub. A Self-Powered USB hub connects to your mains power supply, and ensures that all of its USB ports are supplied with the full 500mA of power.
How to Identify the Primary USB 1.1 Port

To identify the primary USB 1.1 port you need to know the following:
  • USB 1.1 ports have a white plastic insert in the USB socket. The plastic insert in USB 2.0 sockets are black.
  • The Primary port will always be located near the Keyboard and Mouse sockets - never in the expansion slots (unless it is an unsuitable older original Pentium machine - which we do not support)
  • The Primary port is always the top left port, as you look at the back of the PC.
Q. I am using Windows 98 and when I plug my camera in it says "Mass Storage" on the screen but turns itself off after approximately 30 seconds. Why?
A. The above error is occurring because the camera driver is not installed correctly, probably because the camera has been plugged in before the driver installation has been completed.

Please do the following:
  1. Install the driver from the provided CD or download and install from our Downloads section.
  2. Click Start - (Settings) - Control Panel - System - (Hardware) - Device Manager.
  3. Now plug in the Camera.
  4. Click Refresh (if available).
  5. Locate the USB Camera or USB Device entry marked with a yellow exclamation mark (!) and double-click it.
  6. Now click "Update" or "Re-install" driver.
  7. Follow the Update Driver Installation Wizard through clicking "Next" and leave all settings as default.
  8. The camera will then be installed properly and the camera will no longer turn off.
